Waldorf Astoria Atrium & Clock

Set in the presidential quarter near Cairo International Airport, this hotel has an enormous atrium that enables the presence of gardens and plants at the reception of 235 Guestrooms and 17 suites.

 

The atrium being the crown of this hotel needed to be the focal point of the building hence why the iconic Waldorf Astoria clock was to be located here. Developing an abstract clock design with lighting within a central fountain, we used Pharaonic and Arabesque styles and patterns to develop a clock face pattern in the floor with 60 equal radials creating a design that also connects back to the sun and the areas connection back to the sun god Re.
